Hubbard Comparisons

William Hubbard (1804-1870) was an artist who painted many watercolour scenes of Crayford and the surrounding areas during the 1840s and 1850s. Hubbard also worked as a designer at the Swaisland factory.

As part of the Fabric of Our Town project current day photographs were taken of the scenes that Hubbard painted. These can be seen here alongside the original Hubbard watercolours and show how much, or how little, Crayford has changed since the middle of the 19th Century.
